Project Snapshot
Status and timing
Star of the South is in the advanced stages of development.
All initial site studies are complete, confirming that the project is technically feasible and will contribute significantly to meeting energy needs, creating jobs and cutting emissions from the electricity sector.
Star of the South secured a Commonwealth exploration licence in 2019 to explore the project’s potential, and a feasibility licence in 2024.
Pending approvals, we aim to start construction later this decade to deliver on Victoria’s 2 GW by 2032 offshore wind energy target and Australia’s 2035 emissions reduction target.
The next steps include:
- Securing all approvals
- Participating in the Victorian offshore wind auction
- Reaching a final investment decision.
